Headache ReliefNashville, TNMEDICAL BREAKTHROUGH…JVA Quick Test for TMJ
Joint vibration analysis, or JVA quick test, is a new medical breakthrough being used to determine if there is damage to the jaw joint. Dr. Shipp has been trained extensively to use joint vibration analysis (JVA) as a tool for diagnosing temporomandibular joint disease prior to treatment.
Temporomandibular joint disorder (otherwise known as TMJ disorder or TMD)
The temporomandibular joint connects the lower jaw to the temporal bone of the skull. When alignment and function of the temporomandibular joint are not functioning properly, the resulting issues are known as temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD). TMD may be described as a dull, aching pain that comes and goes in the jaw joint and nearby area. TMD can also lead to chronic headaches. There are several causes for the disorder including trauma, tooth grinding and malocclusion (improper bite).
The symptoms of TMD can include:

Disclusion Time Reduction, otherwise known as DTR, is a therapy that uses state-of-the-art technology and precise adjustments to decrease the friction between upper and lower teeth and allows the muscles to relax. By relaxing the muscles, the pain in the face and jaw joint can be reduced or eliminated, along with the severity of headaches.Dr. Phillip P. Shipp IV, DDS, FCNO – Level 2 Certification, Center for Neural Occlusion
Dr. Shipp was one of the first dentists in the United States to become certified in DTR and JVA and to obtain the distinction of Level 2 Fellowship from the Center for Neural Occlusion. To become certified, a dentist must complete the didactic training, incorporate state-of-the-art technology and equipment to perform DTR and JVA, successfully complete the hands-on clinical training and successfully complete a comprehensive exam administered by the Center for Neural Occlusion.Click Here to Learn More About the Center for Neural Occlusion

Dr. Robert Kerstein
Dr. Robert Kerstein, a Boston Prosthodontist and the longest standing researcher, author, and user of Computerized Occlusal Analysis Technology (since 1984), developed a computer-guided TMJ treatment that has been proven to be a much faster and more permanent solution to TMJ symptoms than nightguards, mouthguards, oral appliances, or deprogramming appliances.
In 2012, while treating his patients with a combination of these specialized technologies, Dr. Nick observed a predictable correlation between hypersensitive teeth and painful chewing muscles (dental hypersensitivity and muscular TMD issues), treatable via a digitally directed, single dental treatment visit protocol. Dr. Nick began uploading live patient video case studies to YouTube displaying patient responses to his one visit treatment protocol.
